There are two simple words you need to know if you want to protect your assets beyond the "limits" tied to your home, car or boat policies: UMBRELLA INSURANCE.

 

A personal umbrella policy is a safety net that protects you and your family against lawsuits and judgements.  The insurance on your home, car or boat all have policy limits.  But if you have an accident in your car for example, you could easily be sued for more than your policy limit and you will be required to pay the difference.
